Hemingways relationships with his fourth wife Mary was something much more different than his previous wives. She changed Hemingway's style of writing which was very weird for a person like him. When they got married, Hemingway wrote about sex and it wasn't really a hit for his audience and it made him a lot more embarrassing. "Make You Stop Flying", was one of Hemingway's work about his sexual experiences with Mary. When Mary and Hemingway got older, Hemingway never trusted her fully. She was the last women Hemingway spent the last years of his life with before committing suicide and she was a wreck after he took his life. "
Mary had learned to drink to keep up with Hemingway, but her guilt about his suicide turned her into an alcoholic. Friends reported that toward the end of her life she began to drink, early in the morning, straight from the bottle" (Meyers). This quotation is an extremely accurate representation of what Mary was like after Hemingway's death.
